Well, I can officially say our 2012 season has begun here at Bearcreek Farms. What a great opening week, weather in the high 70’s, all sunshine and it was so nice to see all the familiar faces who came out to visit, as well as some new faces.

If you haven’t been out yet, don’t put it off to long, before you know it May will be here and all of our schedules will quickly fill up with people to see and places to go and things that just have to be done. I made a 4 day shopping trip to Atlanta in January and found a lot of new merchandise for the Homestead Restaurant and the Barnyard Mall and of course the Mercantile is filled with the latest spring fashions. We have an entire section dedicated to the pets in our lives, especially those four legged friends with the cold noses, including bling collars, greeting cards, car magnets and a bunch of fun gifts. The jewelry line has expanded and items are moving quickly.

You have to try the new Honey Butter. This stuff is so good. I spent about an hour with this older gentleman who was representing it, sampling all the different flavors. You can serve it on toast, cereal, hot rolls, crackers or just about anything and it just takes a little dab. This week we are sampling the Blueberry Honey Butter and honestly I could sit there and eat half the jar. Also visit our online shopping site (shop.bearcreekfarms.com), where we have been adding new products, including my favorite Honey Butter and our traditional Amish Country Butters. Now the staff thinks I am out to get them, because of the popular roll over animals that laugh and are motion sensor. So this year, we are also carrying a line of small ceramic birds that chirp when you walk by.

With the price of gas on a continuous upward climb, we realize that each of us needs to watch where we spend our savings  so we will continue to offer online specials and specials over the phone in order to try to keep a few extra bucks in your pocket so that you can purchase that gas. Another thought,  get a group together and car pool to Bearcreek Farms for the day. I remember last year when the prices jumped, I saw a car pull in, loaded down with 3 couples and much to my surprise they squeezed another person, totaling 7 people in one car. Now that is determination.

Talk to your local senior center or church about scheduling our Sunbeam Bus, which seats 35 people. We will come pick you up at one location and take you back to it after the show. We only charge a small fee that helps cover our gas.

Now, are you asking yourself, why would we call it the “Sunbeam Bus”, well you keep thinking about that and I will tell you all about the name another day.

Happy Spring and Look Forward To Seeing Everyone Very Soon!
